BENNY Koh has been hired as managing director of Deloitte Southeast Asia's treasury advisory practice. The appointment took place on Friday. Prior to joining Deloitte, Benny was with Temasek in Singapore.

Deloitte is focusing on developing its treasury solutions service to clients in the region at a time when companies are becoming more sophisticated in managing liquidity, taking in more foreign currency exposure through cross border businesses and transacting derivatives to manage market risks.

With Singapore's role as a global financial centre, foreign companies are also increasingly using Singapore as a regional hub for high-value shared services like cash management and foreign exchange execution.

With over 20 years of operational treasury experience, from setting up funding programmes and originating bond issues for GE Capital, one of the world's leading corporate borrowers, to establishing a retail bank from the ground up in Thailand, as well as providing leadership for Temasek's capital markets, investment funding and foreign exchange management functions, "Mr Koh's experience in treasury advisory will ensure that Deloitte continues to be well placed to meet and exceed our clients' needs in this region", said Chaly Mah, Deloitte Southeast Asia's CEO.

"As Asia is widely seen as the growth engine for the next decade, we expect rising demand for treasury advisory services on the back of robust mergers & acquisitions activities, increases in private equity investments and overall business growth for Asian enterprises," Mr Koh said.
