Bosch goes big on Internet of Things as manufacturing shrinks
It will launch its first building monitoring project in Singapore next month

GERMAN conglomerate Bosch will kickstart its first building monitoring project here next month, as the engineering and electronics group looks to strengthen its position in the Internet of Things (IoT) sector globally.
The project will be conducted in a "fairly large, well-known" commercial cum retail building. It will make use of Bosch's sensors and data analytic capabilities to help building managers forecast when lifts should undergo maintenance, or when washrooms need cleaning.
"Because it's a pilot, as soon as that is successful, it will be rolled out across multiple different properties," said Thomas Jakob, regional president for Asia-Pacific of Bosch Software Innovations - the software division of Bosch - in an interview with The Business Times on Tuesday.
