THE Business Times will once again partner Maybank Kim Eng for its second Asian investment outlook seminar this Saturday at the Grand Hyatt. This follows the success of the inaugural event last year, which received a full house of 150 participants.

Maybank Investment Bank's chief economist Suhaimi Ilias will initiate the seminar by introducing macroeconomic themes for this year. Mr Ilias has two decades of experience in economics research and also sits on the Maybank Asset Management Investment Committee. In 2014, he was awarded the top rank for his research in Malaysian ringgit bonds at The Asset Awards.

The baton will then be passed to Maybank's head of research, Singapore, Ng Wee Siang, who will share his insights on mining the market. Mr Ng has held his current position since October 2013. Prior to Maybank, he served as a credit analyst of Asean banks for Moody's Investors Service and was also head of Asean banks for BNP Paribas.

The spotlight will then shift to Aggregate Asset Management's executive director and head of research, Teh Hooi Ling, who will delve into equity strategies for Asean markets. Ms Teh was previously a financial journalist at BT, a career which spanned 22 years. In 2002, she pioneered an investment column, Show Me The Money, to offer investment insights into the market. Her articles have been compiled into four best-selling books. The fifth book launched last November. In 2009, Ms Teh was recognised as the Securities Investors Association of Singapore's Investor Education Journalist.

BT associate editor Vikram Khanna will round up the seminar by moderating a panel discussion involving the three speakers. Here, all participants will share their views on the theme, "Spotting Opportunities in Asian Markets".
