Coal-mining stocks average 29% return so far this year

PURE-PLAY coal-mining stocks on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) have quadrupled in number over three years - from one stock with a market value of S$364 million in March 2014 to four with a combined market capitalisation of S$1.76 billion in March this year.
In a market update on Thursday, SGX said that the four stocks have averaged a 29 per cent total return in the year thus far, with three gainers and one decliner.
