Cordlife names Wong Chiang Yin as new CEO
CORD-BLOOD bank Cordlife Group said it has appointed a new CEO, Wong Chiang Yin.
Dr Wong, 48, is a medical doctor. He was most recently the executive director of Bursa-Malaysia-listed TMC Life Sciences, a general hospital owner and operator that also owns a chain of fertility treatment centres in Malaysia.
He was also concurrently the president of Thomson International, the international arm of obstetric and gynaecology specialist Thomson Medical Centre. Dr Wong stepped down from both positions last September.
At the same time, Cordlife's senior director of corporate development Jonathan Liau Yen San, 37, has resigned to pursue other career opportunities.
Former Cordlife CEO Jeremy Yee unexpectedly resigned in March. Cordlife board members said in a May dialogue session with shareholders that an underperforming core business and a dispute over a clause on pay in Mr Yee's contract led to his departure.
But Mr Yee said a few days later that he was told that he could either resign or have his services terminated, and that his track record speaks for itself.
