Darco unit signs deal to distribute Aquaporin products in Singapore, Malaysia
A MALAYSIAN subsidiary of mainboard-listed Darco Water Technologies has signed an agreement to distribute products made by Danish cleantech firm Aquaporin in Singapore and Malaysia.
The deal with the Darco subsidiary - Ness Plus Trading - will see products which contain the Danish company's Aquaporin Inside Forward Osmosis Technology, available in the two markets. It also represents Aquaporin's first exclusive distribution agreement signed in Malaysia.
Said Mark Perry, vice president of business development and sales in Aquaporin Asia: "For Malaysia, the Aquaporin Inside Forward Osmosis Technology can be a game changer. Traditional wastewater treatment technologies for challenging industrial wastewater come at high operating expenses and capital expenditure cost and often involve labour intensive operations."
Darco's chief executive officer Thye Kim Meng commented that while the distributor rights are presently for the Singapore and Malaysian markets, "with the Darco's knowhow in building and operating forward osmosis systems, the group is ideally poised to capture market shares in the growing market for forward osmosis-based solutions."
Darco shares last traded on April 17 at 50 Singapore cents.
