Ex-SEC official: No need to fear US compliance rules

Various strategies for firms seeking to raise capital in US to comply with rules

COMPLIANCE requirements in the US might have increased in the past few years, but companies planning to raise capital there should not be afraid of them, said Robert Khuzami, who was most recently the enforcement chief at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

"The SEC is going aggressively into various areas ... but it doesn't mean principles of justice and fairness are being tossed aside, or there is no due process," Mr Khuzami, now a partner in corporate law firm Kirkland & Ellis, told The Business Times in an interview yesterday.
