Genting Hotel Jurong: soft launching at end of this month

THE 557-room Genting Hotel Jurong, located along Jurong Town Hall Road, will soft launch on April 30, with the grand opening to take place on May 27.

The first major hotel project in the Jurong Lake District, it is close to the International Business Park, the Jurong East Bus Terminal and mass rapid transit (MRT) station as well as popular shopping malls.

Chow Keng Hai, vice-president (rooms), Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), said: "Genting Hotel Jurong will boost RWS room inventory significantly and forms part of our business strategy to drive greater visitorship to RWS. It also allows us to be part of the exciting transformation that is taking place at the Jurong Lake District. The Singapore government's development plans to revitalise the area into a stunning lakeside destination for business and leisure bode well for Genting Hotel Jurong."

RWS is wholly owned by Genting Singapore, which is part of the Genting Group.

Genting Hotel Jurong centres around "a hotel in a garden" theme, in keeping with the lush greenery of Jurong Lake, while a roof-top garden and sky terrace give guests unfettered views of the area.

Its design also incorporates environmentally friendly aspects, such as a rainwater collection system for irrigation purposes to curb water usage, while most of the hotel faces North and South to reduce heat gain.

Meanwhile, the 15-storey hotel tower is equipped with meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions (Mice) facilities, such as a ballroom which can accommodate up to 300 guests, as well as five meeting rooms.

Guests rooms come with complimentary Wi-Fi access and USB charging sockets, while the hotel offers facilities such as a self-service laundromat, a gym and a swimming pool.

A 15-minute drive from the Tuas Checkpoint, Genting Hotel Jurong is also a 25-minute drive from RWS and a 40-minute drive from Changi Airport. Hotel guests have access to a free round-the-clock shuttle bus service that operates between Genting Hotel Jurong and the integrated resort RWS.

Shares in Genting Singapore closed at 97.5 Singapore cents, up two cents, on Thursday.
