IEV Holdings granted US patent
IEV Holdings announced on Monday that its subsidiary, IEV Group Sdn Bhd, was granted a patent certificate for a "self-cleaning apparatus for the prevention of marine growth" in the US, effective as of Jan 17, 2017.
Invented by Christopher Do, president and CEO of the group, the apparatus incorporates design changes along with self-cleaning features that result in a stronger and more durable product that can withstand extreme ocean conditions with a service life that is no longer limited by the life of the anti-fouling paint, as in previous product generations.
Said Mr Do: "Thirty years ago, the MGP (marine growth preventers) established itself as the cornerstone to the inception of IEV and to date, this technology has already been applied to nearly 500 platforms worldwide. The grant of patent rights is indeed timely amidst our global launch of our new generation of MGP, which represents one of the world's lowest cost structural integrity management solutions commercially available to add life and strength to offshore structures as well as reducing inspection frequency without any structural modification."
