Jump in Nam Cheong, Sunningdale shares triggers trading queries

SHARES of offshore support vessel builder and charterer Nam Cheong and plastics components manufacturer Sunningdale Tech surged amid hefty trading on Wednesday, prompting trading queries from the Singapore Exchange (SGX).

Nam Cheong shares surged as much as 35 per cent intraday before ending at 2.7 Singapore cents, a 17.4 per cent increase from Tuesday's closing. Some 46.1 million shares of Nam Cheong changed hands. Year-to-date, Nam Cheong shares were still down 56.5 per cent.

Sunningdale Tech shares leapt as much as 8.6 per cent intraday; it closed at S$1.95, an 8 per cent gain from Tuesday's closing, after 4.75 million shares were traded. Its shares have gone up by 77.3 per cent yea…
