Liberty Wireless signs deal with M1 to offer mobile services

Wednesday, July 8, 2015 - 17:46

M1 Limited (M1) on Wednesday announced an agreement to enable Liberty Wireless to deliver voice, messaging and data access to its customers, using M1's mobile network as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).

Liberty Wireless is a Singapore-based mobile telecommunications company whose operating brand is Circles Asia.

MVNOs are mobile operators who, instead of setting up their own networks, buy bandwidth at a wholesale rate from existing mobile operators in order to offer telecom services to its customers. Liberty Wireless will become the first MVNO operating in Singapore which provides a full service mobile network experience.

On Tuesday the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) had announced that it encourages the entrance of MVNOs into the mobile telephony landscape in Singapore.

Through the agreement with M1 Liberty Wireless will tap on the telco's mobile network to offer voice, messaging and data services to postpaid customers in Singapore.

With its intelligent network layer, Circles Asia will focus on product and service innovation, spurring healthy competition in the industry while ensuring long-term sustainability for all stakeholders. Circles Asia is expected to begin offering its mobile service towards the end of 2015.
