M'sia's Sime Darby Q3 profit rises on plantation, car sales gains

    MALAYSIAN conglomerate Sime Darby Bhd, the world's largest palm oil planter by land size, said on Wednesday that its third-quarter net profit rose 5.4 per cent on a year earlier boosted by plantation and earnings from car operations.

    The company with businesses ranging from plantations to properties and motors recorded a net profit of 699 million ringgit (S$226 million) for the quarter ended March 31, up from 663 million ringgit in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
