NetLink Trust to enhance operational procedures following S$10,000 fine

NETLINK NBN Trust has enhanced its operational procedures, following a fibre service interruption incident last December that led to it being fined S$10,000 by the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA).

In an announcement to Singapore Exchange on Tuesday, NetLink said that the fibre service interruption incident affecting Tanjong Rhu on Dec 13, 2016, was caused by an unintended splicing of a new secondary cable segment to the egress cable of a secondary cabinet.

NetLink added that IMDA has completed its investigation into the incident and has found the company to be in contravention of the Telecom Service Resiliency Code and imposed a financial penalty of S$10,000 on the company.

Netlink has since "enhanced its operational procedures to prevent a recurrence of such breach and will continue to review and enhance its capabilities, particularly in the area of service restoration", it said.
