OKP: 'Saddened' by fatal collapse at PIE work site, will cooperate with investigation
OKP Holdings expressed regrets over an accident at its work site near the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) that killed one worker and injured 10 others.
"The board is deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and wishes to express the company's heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased and others injured in the incident," the company said in an announcement on Friday afternoon. "Meanwhile, the group will ensure that the needs of the affected workers are fully taken care of."
A structure collapsed on Friday morning near the PIE exit to the Tampines Expressway where OKP was building a new viaduct, the company said. A 31-year-old Chinese worker died in the incident, and 10 other workers from the site were sent to Changi General Hospital.
The Land Transport Authority, the Ministry of Manpower and the Building and Construction Authority are currently investigating the accident. OKP said that it will assist and cooperate fully with authorities.
All work on the site has been suspended.
