Olam partners French firm to develop animal feed expertise in Nigeria
OLAM International has signed an agreement with French feedstock company InVivo Animal Nutrition & Health to jointly develop animal feed expertise in Nigeria, an industry that Olam recently entered into.
The two-year partnership will combine Olam's Africa experience with InVivo's proficiency in animal feed.
Both firms will share technical assistance and expertise to jointly develop solutions and products in animal feed. For instance, InVivo's nutrition and formulation experts will work with Olam to build a strong understanding of the local market and also train Olam's staff on providing veterinary field support to poultry and fish farmers so as to deliver consistent product performance.
"This knowledge-transfer agreement will accelerate our penetration into this space, allowing Olam and InVivo to rapidly scale up commercial activities," said Olam's global head of grains K C Suresh. "In doing so, we look forward to improving productivity and returns for the local fish and poultry producers, which supports Nigeria's economy."
Nigeria's commercial feed market is expected to grow at over 10 per cent on average annually over the next five years, said Olam.
