P&G non-profit arm purifies its 10 billionth litre of potable water

A NON-PROFIT arm of global consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) has purified its 10 billionth litre of potable water via the conglomerate's Children's Safe Drinking Water programme, said P&G at a celebratory event on Friday.

Launched in 2004 in Pakistan, the programme manufactures and distributes water purification sachets to needy children and families in disaster-impacted areas, and to developing nations with no access to potable water. It has an eventual goal of providing a cumulative 15 billion litres of potable water by 2020, which would be enough to "save one life every hour".
