PLDT unit says the acquisition will help grow Philippine digital economy

THE digital innovations unit of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) and Smart Communications, Inc. has announced its purchase of Singapore-based e-commerce platform start-up Paywhere Pte Ltd, for an estimated price of US$5 million.
The acquisition by Voyager Innovation will boost its mission of enabling the growth of the digital economy in the Philippines and other emerging markets, it said on Tuesday.
