Poon Hong Yuen named CEO of Spring Singapore
THE deputy secretary of the Ministry of Law, Poon Hong Yuen, has been appointed chief executive of Spring Singapore with effect from Nov 1. He will take over from outgoing CEO Tan Kai Hoe, who is stepping down to join the private sector.
As deputy secretary - a post he has held since March 2014 - Mr Poon led inter-agency engagement efforts for family justice and the community disputes resolution tribunals. He also helped lay the foundation for the Singapore International Mediation Centre and Singapore International Mediation Institute, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a release on Friday. Before this, Mr Poon was CEO of the National Parks Board (NParks) from August 2010 to February 2014. Under his leadership, NParks set into motion major initiatives such as "Destination Parks" and the "Round Island Route".
Mr Poon graduated with a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering (first class honours) from the UK's Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in 1993.
