SIA introducing changes to KrisFlyer redemptions
SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) is making changes related to redemption bookings for its KrisFlyer frequent-flyer programme.
From March 23, fuel and insurance surcharges will no longer apply to KrisFlyer redemptions. Codeshare flights by other airlines may still include surcharges.
But the airline will be removing the 15 per cent discount on miles for redemption bookings made online.
Adjustments are also being made to redemption awards in the "Saver" category for selected zones, while those for other zones remain unchanged. Full details of the new award levels are available at www.singaporeair.com/kfchange.
Separately, SIA and regional wing SilkAir will be folding fuel and insurance surcharges into base airfares, presenting a single base airfare when passengers are purchasing tickets.
"This will not result in immediate changes to 'all-in' fares, which will continue to be determined by market supply and demand, but is intended to provide a more simplified fare structure for customers," the airline highlighted.
This will be implemented progressively by region, starting from March 28 and is expected to be completed by May 2017.
