SingPost COO resigns to pursue overseas opportunities
THE person in charge of Singapore Post's operational transformation will be resigning from the company.
In a filing to the Singapore Exchange on Tuesday, SingPost said that group chief operating officer (COO) Sacha Hower, 38, will step down from his post with effect from Aug 26 to pursue "new opportunities overseas".
In a restructuring exercise that was announced in November last year, SingPost had said that Dr Hower was responsible for the operational transformation of the group.
He led its operations in Singapore and in the region under Quantium Solutions - the international arm for the SingPost's e-commerce logistics business.
Dr Hower was appointed as COO on Jan 3, 2012. Before this, he was with McKinsey & Company in Dusseldorf, Germany.
His resignation follows in the wake of other recent high-profile departures from the company in recent months.
Former chief executive Wolfgang Baier had surprised markets with his shock resignation last December, while chairman Lim Ho Kee, who helmed the company's board since its 2003 initial public offering, stepped down on May 10. Deputy chairman Goh Yeow Tin is resigning with effect from June 24. Former lead independent director Keith Tay had resigned from the board.
