SMRT Corporation will partner the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) to develop technologies to improve Singapore's transport network reliability and performance.
Plagued by nagging train disruptions and a hefty fine by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) this year for the July 7 system-wide disruption on the North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL), SMRT hopes that the five-year collaboration could result in solutions that will strengthen the operational resilience of its rail network with additional early warning systems that will allow it to prevent issues from erupting.
