SMRT Q3 earnings up 58.4% at S$22.6m

Operating profits: non-fare segment contributes S$28m and fare business turns around with S$1.92m

TRANSPORT operator SMRT Corp posted a 58.4 per cent year-on-year increase in net profit to S$22.55 million for the third quarter ended Dec 31, 2014 as its business segments turned in better performances.

Revenue climbed 6.8 per cent to S$313.19 million, while earnings per share rose to 1.5 Singapore cents, up from 0.9 cent in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.

During the quarter under review, the group's fare business recorded an operating profit of S$1.92 million, versus an operating loss of S$8.91 million in the corresponding quarter prior, on the back of improved performances in both the train and bus…
