SPH Magazines' custom-published titles clinch international awards
MAGAZINES published by SPH Magazines Pte Ltd's Custom Content Solutions unit were honoured with five awards for editorial and design excellence.
The wholly owned subsidiary of media organisation Singapore Press Holdings Limited said in a statement on Thursday that the US-based Apex Awards 2017 singled out two titles for the Grand Award under the Magazines, Journals and Tabloids (Design & Layout) category.
The October 2016 issue of SilverKris, Singapore Airlines' inflight travel magazine, was described by the judges as "a magazine you will want to page through time and time again". The Content Marketing Institute declared the issue's feature, "The South-east Asian Diaries", as the winner for Best Use of Illustration.
In the same category, The Johnnie Walker House Edit, produced for Diageo, was also given a Grand Award with the following citation: "This incredibly designed custom-published magazine...presents a layered approach to each of the articles to give them a depth that is both introspective and informative."
Cohort, which is produced for the British Council, and promotes UK Transnational Education (UKTNE) in Singapore, was named a finalist in the Best Cover (Print) award for Issue #5.
The Custom Content Solutions' B2B titles have also won numerous awards in the past. The latest, from Trade Association Business Publication International (TABPI) was accorded to Ascent, which is published for Ascendas-Singbridge, a provider of sustainable urban solutions. Ascent Issue 03.16 clinched a Tabbie, placing #6 under the Best Single Issue category.
Loh Yew Seng, CEO of SPH Magazines, said: "Having been pitted against keen competition and numerous entries from around the world, we are indeed honoured and delighted with these accolades. It truly epitomises the editorial and design excellence that our Custom Content Solutions' team strives for with every client title."
