SINGAPORE Technologies Engineering's aerospace arm, ST Aerospace, has clinched four pilot training contracts worth about S$23 million.

This comprises two ab-initio programmes (one each with China Airlines and Hainan Airlines), a one-year extension contract from the Qatar Aeronautical College, and an extension contract from Xiamen Airlines.

At the Singapore Airshow, ST Aerospace will be featuring for the first time its virtual reality training suite - a tool designed and developed for commercial pilot training.

ST Aerospace president Lim Serh Ghee said that the company's pilot training programmes have gained traction since they were first started in 2007.

Said Mr Lim: "We believe in continuously breaking new ground to provide customers with innovative training solutions. Our key differentiator is the ability to innovate the way we construct our training programmes - whether being amongst the first movers for the MPL (multi-crew pilot licence) programme in Asia, or exploring immersive technologies to enhance our training value chain.

"We are certainly excited to be the preferred training partner to airlines around the world, and are fully committed to producing the most competent pilots for this industry."
