IT was a no-brainer to predict the direction of the local bourse on Wednesday - overnight dips on Wall Street and understandable caution ahead of the release of key market-shifting news signalled that stocks would drop.
Fall it did, with the key Straits Times Index (STI) losing 15.45 points or 0.5 per cent to end the day at 2,843.35.
Regional markets put up a mixed showing with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 0.9 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng dipped 0.5 per cent. China's Shanghai Composite closed half a point down.
