Staying on top of new standards
A key challenge facing accounting professionals is the need to continually train and upgrade their skills, reports MICHELLE QUAH
THE growing complexity of financial reporting and the need for accounting personnel to ensure that their skills are continually upgraded to handle that growing complexity can be said to be among the most acute challenges facing the profession today.
Not only do accountants have to stay on top of the host of new financial reporting standards coming out these days, but they also have to meet increasing demands from the public for greater transparency - in the form of more or alternative reports, such as integrated reports, on a company's financial health.
Training and continuing professional development (CPD) are, therefore, paramount - and it's an area which CPA Australia, one of the world's largest accounting bodies, is committed to helping its members with.
