STI up 1.7% on Wall Street, China rally

Other major Asian bourses also advance as investors put aside jitters driven by growth slowdown and oil slump

WALL Street's upbeat overnight showing spurred by comforting macro data and a rally in Chinese stocks led share prices in the local bourse on to its fifth straight day of gains.

The benchmark Straits Times Index gained 44.57 points or 1.7 per cent to finish at 2,726.96 on Wednesday.
