Aviation sector to launch job portal in Q3 2022 as industry continues to recover: Chee Hong Tat
Initiative by CAAS, NTUC and e2i, will serve as one-stop platform for end-to-end job facilitation, career and training advisory and counselling, as well as recruitment services
THE aviation sector in Singapore will launch a new web portal for job seekers in the industry in the third quarter of 2022, said Senior Minister of State for Transport Chee Hong Tat on Friday (May 27).
The OneAviation Careers Hub web portal, an initiative by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and the Employment and Employability institute (e2i), will serve as a one-stop platform for end-to-end job facilitation, career and training advisory and counselling, as well as recruitment services.
Delivering his keynote address at OneAviation Careers, a 2-day aviation career and recruitment event held on May 27 and 28, Chee noted that job seekers can use the portal to understand career opportunities and career conversion programmes in the aviation industry, as well as to identify relevant training courses to equip them with the necessary skills and competencies.
The new portal comes as current passenger volumes are near 50 per cent of pre-Covid levels, arriving at this milestone much earlier than projected, he added. “We are recovering strongly and the aviation industry needs more workers to support its growth.”
According to him, there is a need for the sector to strengthen its ranks and bring in more talent, energy and passion. “As a sector, we recognise this need and have been intensifying our hiring, not just by facilitating the return of workers who had left the sector during the pandemic, but by also taking steps to promote attractive and quality jobs to fresh graduates and mid-career entrants,” noted Chee, who is also the deputy secretary-general of NTUC.
He said that the OneAviation Careers event is the first of many more sector-wide efforts to help companies attract and bring back workers.

Close to 2,000 job vacancies in the sector will be filled on-site, with 20 aviation employers interviewing job seekers at the event. The jobs range from careers in airport retail, services and operations, to aviation policy and aerospace engineering.
“With these recruitment efforts, we anticipate that the sector could restore close to 85-90 per cent of its pre-Covid workforce by end of the year,” Chee said at the event, organised by the CAAS, NTUC, e2i and Workforce Singapore.
He commended the “quick and decisive actions” of Singapore’s tripartite partners to protect workers and support companies in the industry amid the negative effects of Covid-19.
“The strong tripartite partnership is one key reason why Singapore aviation has been able to successfully ramp up to support air traffic recovery over the past few months,” Chee said.
He expressed his confidence for the aviation industry to recover positively, and expects the pace and recovery of growth to continue to strengthen.
