Vard Marine secures 4m euros Chilean Navy contract

VARD Holdings' subsidiary, Vard Marine, has secured a new contract worth approximately four million euros (S$6.2 million) from the Chilean Navy, for the design of one Antarctic ice-breaking vessel.
Delivery of the vessel is scheduled in 2021. It will be approximately 125 metres in length with a displacement of over 13,000 tonnes.
"The vessel is designed to carry a wide range of containerised and vehicle cargo; helicopters and rescue boats for logistics/SAR (search and rescue) missions, as well as the ability to undertake a broad range of scientific data gathering activities," said Vard Holdings in a press release on Monday.
