VENTURE Corporation on Friday posted a 3.1 per cent increase in net profit for the third quarter, boosted by a slight lift in sales, as well as stronger margins.

The electronics manufacturing firm also warned of higher labour costs ahead.

"Wage pressures may persist and customer consolidation is expected to continue, though it may be less frequent," it said in its financial statement.

Net profit for the three months ended Sept 30, 2014, stood at S$36.1 million, compared to S$35 million a year ago. This translated to earnings per share of 13.2 Singapore cents, up from 12.8 cents a year ago.

Revenue rose 1.7 per cent to S$599 million. Sales from its largest segment - test and measurement, as well as medical products - were up the strongest at 25.9 per cent to S$192 million, but the other segments either recorded flattish growth, or fell in revenue terms.

Pre-tax profit margin was up 6.8 per cent from 6 per cent a year ago.

The counter eased five cents to finish at S$7.55 on Friday.
