What challenge would TPG pose to incumbents in 5G rollout?
INVESTORS are surely hoping for shares of Singtel and StarHub to recover, as they reprice mobile services for the rollout of 5G connectivity.
There might well have been expectations that the competitive situation in the 5G space would be less intense, given that newcomer TPG Telecom did not secure any of the prized 3.5GHz licences in the 5G spectrum auction earlier this year.
But TPG has pointed at ambitious plans for 5G coverage - even while it will have to rely on millimetre-wave (mmWave) networks instead.
