Sky wins bulk of EPL rights as value slips

Total raised for 5 of 7 packages points to a fall in value of the rights after jumps of about 70% in previous 2 auctions

RUPERT MURDOCH'S Sky will pay £3.58 billion (S$6.5 billion) to show 128 English Premier League (EPL) matches for three seasons from August 2019 in a deal that brings to an end rampant inflation in the value of the domestic rights for English top-flight football.

Rival BT will show only 32 games a season, after its £885 million bid secured just one package. There are 380 "live" games in a single EPL season, which runs from August to May every year.
