US online shoppers get perks as tech competition heats up

THE battle for online shoppers is intensifying as several leading tech giants announced moves to lure consumers into their virtual malls.
Last week, Amazon said that members of its Prime programme in select cities will be given access to free same-day delivery on certain items, a move that broadens the subscription service at a time when new players are poised to provide fresh competition online.
