PETRONAS has sanctioned the F12 field development planned under the Kumang Cluster Phase 2 project, which is intended to maintain the gas flow to meet the combined requirements of the country's first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) plant and the three-train MLNG Dua terminal in Bintulu, East Malaysia.
The Malaysian national oil company is understood to have reached the final investment decision after repeatedly holding back a competitive tender tied to the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a mid-sized offshore platform with processing capacity for the F12 field development.
