Total shuts down La Mede refinery over strike

Employees, some wearing t-shirts that say "I am Total La Mede", at the French oil giant's La Mede refinery general assembly in April. The CGT union launched an unlimited strike at the plant on Thursday.


FRENCH oil major Total said on Saturday that management had ordered the halting of the La Mede refinery in south-east France after a union launched a strike against plans to stop crude processing at the plant.

Total intends to halt crude oil processing at its 153,000 barrels-
