Bank of Singapore's Chandrima Das tells GENEVIEVE CUA why fund investments among the wealthy are rising and how they are assessed
INVESTORS have tapped funds as investment vehicles for decades, but their penetration among high net worth individuals may be lower than you might expect.
Fund investments among the wealthy are, however, rising, says Chandrima Das, Bank of Singapore managing director and head of fund solutions. This is partly due to a growing awareness of the importance of a portfolio approach to investments.
As collective investment vehicles, funds enable access to assets that individuals may find difficult to invest in on their own. These include assets such as emerging market bonds and equities. Funds also offer the advantage of professional management and liquidity.
