Sustainable investments set to gain more traction at UBS

Client assets in sustainable investments have grown sevenfold in the three years between 2014 and 2017.

SUSTAINABLE investments are shaping up as the next big thing for UBS clients. It is a class of assets which has gained traction in recent years.

UBS said that client assets in sustainable investments has grown sevenfold in the three years between 2014 and 2017. Over 80 per cent of the growth in sustainable assets under management was seen in 2017.

For instance, for The Rise Fund by TPG, a global impact fund, UBS raised US$325 million in 2017, of which Asia-Pacific clients accounted for US$125 million. In 2016, UBS raised a record US$471 million for the Oncology Impact Fund, of which US$275 million came from Asia-Pacific clients.
