SINCE opening in 2013, PARKROYAL on Pickering has played a significant role in redefining the hospitality landscape, positioning itself and Singapore as global leaders in green high-rise developments.

The hotel is distinguished by its unique architecture and design. It has adopted a hotel-in-a-garden concept and energy-saving features are installed throughout the property. Among its other key features are its elegant pillarless ballroom and function rooms.

For its many unique qualities and facilities, PARKROYAL on Pickering is one of the two winners in the Business Event Venue of the year award category.

"Hailed by many as an architecture stunner, PARKROYAL on Pickering has been attracting meeting planners, business travellers and tourists to Singapore and the hotel with its awe-inspiring façade," says Tina Sim, general manager of the hotel.

"The intriguing structure is a first-of-its-kind in the world and unique to the region; encouraging key decision makers and business owners to make the switch from their preferred hotels to explore a unique hotel-in-a-garden experience that only PARKROYAL on Pickering can offer."

This hotel is an architectural stunner. Its imposing exterior is built in an undulating, wave-like pattern in alternate shades of grey to evoke a Balinese rice terrace, and the "hotel inside a garden" concept inspired the creation of 15,000 square metres of cascading foliage, sky gardens, waterfalls and wall planters throughout the property. The back-to-nature theme is continued in the lobby, with its natural wood elements, water features and moss-inspired carpets.

Ms Sim says the hotel's secret to service and experience excellence is its dedication and commitment to creating memorable guest experiences. Last year, PARKROYAL on Pickering was privileged to welcome the multinational 20th Century Fox crew and main cast of Hollywood spy action movie - Agent 47.

The entire 14th floor of the hotel was converted into a mini production base for the Fox team. Key scenes of the movie were filmed in the Executive Suites while other lead-in category rooms were converted into meeting spaces, make-up studios and hospitality suites - exemplary of how the hotel team harnessed their creativity juices and demonstrated versatility in transforming conventional spaces to meet the diverse requirements of the crew.

The culinary brigade also went the extra mile to delight the Hollywood VIPs during their stay. At a cast party held at the Presidential Suite prior to the crew's departure, the invited guests were treated to an action-packed display of ice carvings featuring the movie logo, revolver-themed canapes and cocktails inspired by movie memorabilia.
