In the days leading up to the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's handover to China, celebrated this past Saturday, the news streams have been filled with what government officials both here and from Beijing have had to say. Most of the official talk centred on the city's unique position in the "one country, two systems" framework, which has lately come under significant strain as China flexes its authoritarian muscle and more Hong Kongers join the call for democracy, while a smaller faction has come to trumpet Hong Kong independence.
