Abe prepares to 'buy' Trump's favour with major deals
He will woo US president with infrastructure projects and financing deals designed to create jobs in the US
Tokyo
ARMED with public- and private-sector projects and financing deals reportedly worth US$450 billion, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is set to "buy" his country's way into the favour of US President Donald Trump when the pair meet for a summit in the US this weekend.
With the government-orchestrated package of sweeteners created from pressing Japanese companies to get on board a "Japan Inc"-style initiative, Mr Abe hopes to dissuade Mr Trump from accusing Japan of unfair trade or currency manipulation, analysts say.
