ARMED with public- and private-sector projects and financing deals reportedly worth US$450 billion, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is set to "buy" his country's way into the favour of US President Donald Trump when the pair meet for a summit in the US this weekend.
With the government-orchestrated package of sweeteners created from pressing Japanese companies to get on board a "Japan Inc"-style initiative, Mr Abe hopes to dissuade Mr Trump from accusing Japan of unfair trade or currency manipulation, analysts say.
