Ankara fingers Gülen group for attempted coup
Singapore
THE Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said late on Saturday that the coup attempt was made by a "terrorist organisation" linked to Fethullah Gülen, a Turkish cleric based in the United States.
According to the ministry, a military mobility outside the chain of command started in several cities in Turkey, most notably in Istanbul and Ankara. This, through preliminary evaluation, was understood to be a coup attempt by a group of soldiers from varying ranks within the Turkish Armed Forces.
