Arrests, scuffles as Hong Kong police try to clear protest site

The Mongkok site is the second to be partially cleared since the High Court in the semi-autonomous Chinese city granted injunctions to let authorities start dismantling sections of the camps. Police, backed by a wave of reinforcements, have now formed a human chain to hold back protesters from interrupting traffic, said an AFP reporter at the scene.

HONG Kong police arrested 80 people on Tuesday as scuffles broke out when demonstrators tried to block the authorities from clearing part of a pro-democracy protest site after nearly two months of rallies.

The arrests came as police tried to disperse a crowd of around 100
