AVA to appoint six new board members

WITH effect from Wednesday, April 1, six new members will be appointed to the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) board.
Appointed for a three-year term, these include: COL (Dr) Tang Kong Choong, chief naval medical officer, Singapore Armed Forces; Chua Mui Hoong, opinion editor, The Straits Times, Singapore Press Holdings (SPH); Professor David Chan, director, Behavioural Sciences Institute, Singapore Management University; Lau Teck Sien, partner and chief investment officer, HOPU Investments; and Harasha binte Khalid Bafana, director, Adam & Hawa Network.
Lim Neo Chian, former director, Economic Development Innovations Singapore, will be appointed as the board's deputy chairman.
Along with seven other members, Koh Soo Keong, chairman of the AVA board, will be re-appointed.
Five members are stepping down, including Teo Eng Cheong, chief executive officer, International Enterprise (IE) Singapore; Felix Soh, digital media editor, SPH; and Dr Azlinda Anwar, assistant director (research & enterprise development), Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory.
