Bank Negara confirms receipt of MAS report on IMDB-related account
Report will be extended to other enforcement agencies under Malaysia's jurisdiction, says central bank governor
Kuala Lumpur
MALAYSIA's central bank said on Tuesday that it is looking into a report by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on a 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) related account amid growing frustration at foot-dragging by its top officials in assisting the authorities to get a clearer grasp of its financial quandary.
After weeks of silence, Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz confirmed receipt of a MAS report which she said would be extended to other enforcement agencies under Malaysia's jurisdiction, but declined to reveal more on the grounds that the international community would stop cooperating with Malaysia if the information was released. "Disclosures will stop all investigations if we talk about it," said Ms Zeti who had earlier launched the Labuan Financial Services Authority 2014 Annual Report.
