Belt-and-Road study centre to offer courses

THE London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) in Singapore has come together with Xiamen University's Overseas Education College to set up the Belt and Road Multi-Cultural Studies Centre under the auspices of China's Belt and Road Initiative.

The centre, which opened at Springleaf Tower on Thursday, will run two degree programmes, namely Bachelor of Economics in International Economics and Trade, and Bachelor of Management in Accounting.

LSBF in Singapore is believed to be the first private education institution in the Republic to land a project under the Belt and Road Initiative, valued at an estimated S$69 billion.

Both programmes start in October and are for holders of diplomas in relevant fields. The courses of study are thus top-up programmes leading to a degree in two years; both degrees are accredited by Xiamen University.

By January 2018, the centre will also offer transnational educational programmes, cultural studies and exchanges, which aim to give business executives and students a better understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative, and insights into Chinese culture and business etiquette.

LSBF in Singapore aims to expand globally; plans are in the pipeline to export a similar Belt and Road Initiative academic concept to Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia in the next three years.
