BOE governor Carney in favour of early referendum on EU
Referendum pledge had been major battleground during election campaign

BANK of England governor Mark Carney indicated he's in favour of Prime Minister David Cameron holding an early referendum on Britain's European Union membership.
The vote should take place "as soon as necessary", Mr Carney said on BBC Radio on Thursday.
