Chan Yeng Kit, Ng Chee Khern appointed chairman of IMDA, GovTech respectively
THE Minister for Communications and Information on Friday announced the appointment of the chairmen and board members to two new agencies, the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) and GovTech.
Chan Yeng Kit, Permanent Secretary (Defence), has been appointed as chairman of the IMDA board with effect from Oct 1. Mr Chan is at present the chairman of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).
The IMDA board comprises 18 other members, 17 of whom have previously served on the boards of IDA or the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA). Among them is Steve Leonard, chief executive officer of SG-Innovate.
Ng Chee Khern, Permanent Secretary (Defence Development), has been appointed as chairman of the GovTech board with effect from Oct 1.
The GovTech board comprises 13 other members. Six new board members have been appointed, one of whom is Freddy Boey Yin Chiang, deputy president and provost at Nanyang Technological University.
Both IMDA and GovTech will officially be established on Oct 1, following the restructuring of the IDA and MDA.
