China strengthens global role as economy adjusts to 'new normal'

FRESH from its success in launching the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), China further boosted its international status on Wednesday when Premier Li Keqiang visited Paris to bolster collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The visit came as the World Bank released a report suggesting that China is adjusting to "a growth trajectory that is slower but more balanced and sustainable - a 'new normal' for the world's second-largest economy".
The first visit to the OECD by a Chinese state leader, Mr Li's trip to the organisation's headquarters coincided with the 20th anniversary of OECD-China relations and came ahead of China's upcoming presidency of the Group of 20 (G-20) advanced and emerging economies in 2016…
