Data loss and downtime cost Singapore firms over US$1b in 12-month span
Survey finds that 43% of respondents here do not have a disaster recovery plan

SINGAPORE might rank fourth on the latest EMC Global Data Protection Index which rates "protection readiness", but data loss and downtime still took its toll on local firms, costing them more than US$1 billion over a 12-month period, the study found.
For the Asia-Pacific and Japan region, this loss is even greater, coming in at an average of US$34 billion. Global data loss has also been on the rise, up 400 per cent since 2012, according to EMC Corporation's study.
