Economic slowdown gathers pace in Asia's 3 biggest economies

EVIDENCE of a gathering economic slowdown across Asia continued to mount on Tuesday, as surveys revealed China's manufacturing sector to be in its severest slump in several years, while in Japan, corporate capital spending slowed sharply in the second quarter of this year from the first.
The latest data came a day after news that India's economic growth had slowed slightly in the second quarter to a lower level than economists had forecast.
